A Michigan organization is trying to get a bottle return deposit on water bottles due to an increase in Americans use of drinking bottled water. In return, a Michigan representative is trying to get a law on the books to make recycling simpler. In 1976, Michigan passed a law to place a bottle deposit on pop and beer. The deposit is .10 per bottle here and has helped decrease the waste around the state with regard to cans and bottles. Now, the Michign Environmental Council is lobbying to get a bottle deposit on plastic bottles. I like the idea and I’m not a tree hugger. The biggest problem is that stores need to then handle the responsibility of recycling the materials, which can be problematic for smaller stores. Rep. Geoff Hansen is countering the idea with a bill in the legislature that would levy a one-cent surcharge on the sale of consumable goods

From ESPN.com, a canadian hockey fan (redundant?) died at the age of 84 and wanted one more year of hockey before he went to the great rink in the sky. Well we all know that didn’t happen. So in his last words, he rips a few shots at the “negotiators” for lack of a better term and calls for the “the Great One” to step in as president of the NHL. This may start a new trend, I mean can you be sued after you’re dead? Imagine, statements can be made in obituaries and nothing can be done about it (consult your attorney prior to doing this)…
