the iPod theology

A Houston pastor preaches iPod and he tries to simplify the message of Christ and compares it to the popularity and ease of use of the iPod. Very interesting, indeed, maybe another reason to grab an iPod

Chicago: the last day

The Art Institue was next on the plate. We rode the Metra and then planned on the bus to the museum, but couldn’t find a stinken bus schedule in Union Station. We walked to the musem–probably about 15 blocks. Got to the museum and spent some time in the Impressionism exhibit, then More >

Chicago: The Field Museum

Slept in and slept good. Headed to the Field Museum at 12Noon. There was a long line but it was worth it. They had an exhibit on Pompeii. We spent over 2 hours in there and still didn’t make ti through. We made our own lunch and ate in the van.

Then met up with our new chinese friends from the church and went to a whole in the wall chinese restaturant. Food was great, but the place was a dump! The crew was fun. Eric and Phoebe, Scotty and Mary were in attendance.

First Day: Chicago

Didn’t sleep well. My cousin Eldy and his dad (my uncle) Don showed up at the door around 9:00am. We spent time with them and Eldy got a massage compliments of Dale at some Armenian massage place (this is legit!!). We then went to Menards and got Dale an overhead fan for his kitchen. Robbie was cleaning the kitchen and I installed the fan with no problem. We played cards and wached the ball drop at 11 and then went to bed. That was nice indeed a nice New Year’s eve!

Chicago Trip

We left at 8:30 and hit snow in Battle Creek and considered stopping, but didn’t. We arrived in Shchaumburg and needed to unload and get reayd for bed. We slept at my cousin Dale’s place and had to set up our air mattress and we put the kids in the closet. It was a really big closet, a full size mattress fit in there and of course the kids loved it. It was only 4 hours door-to-door with 2 stops along the way.

Narnia-Christian…NOT!!!

Noted columnist Cal Thomas has stated that the movie is about as Christian as Chariots of Fire. This is a good thing. This movie is a great film! My family (sans my 7 yo son) went to the advance showing and it was awesome. There was a lot of excellent scenes and Narnia looked real, to me that is. I never read the Narnia books, but have always wanted to.

The battle scenes are real and no blood is shed. You may want to prepare younger children for some of the darker scenes, but it not nightmare-ish (Lord of the Rings).

Pot Less Intrusive than E-mail

Discover Magazine reports the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s college London sent the world of info junkies into a mild panic earlier this year by declaring that e-mail might do more damage to your brain than smoking pot.

Researchers asked two sets of subjects to take IQ tests. One group had to check e-mail and respond to instant messages while taking the test. The second group just sat down and did the test without distractions. So researchers drew attention to their study by noting that multitasking is worse for your ability to concentrate than getting stoned.
